1. Brief Introduction to Discipline

This discipline was established in 1960 and began to   recruit graduate students in 1961. In 1998, this discipline was approved by   the State Council with doctoral and master's degree granting rights in the   first-class discipline of Instrument Science and Technology. This   discipline is a first-class key discipline in Jiangsu province and also a   preponderant discipline in Jiangsu province. It is one of the key disciplines   in the 211 project and 985 revitalization action plan   of the Ministry of Education, and also one of the key disciplines in the   Double Tops construction of Southeast University. This discipline   has 4 ministerial or provincial key laboratories and has participated in the   construction of 3 national research platforms. 

   At present, this discipline has formed a high-level faculty   team, including the academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering and   the winners of National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. The   faculty team includes 29 doctor supervisors and 52 master supervisors.

   This discipline aims to promote the national defense   construction and economic construction, it has formed the features of   military and civilian integration with great superiority. The annual received   fund is over 50 million yuan.  

      Graduates of this discipline have good employment   prospects and can be engaged in research, development and management work in   the fields of instrumentation, measurement and detection, automation and   robotics, advanced navigation, electronic information, computer application,   intelligent city, intelligent medical treatment and intelligent   transportation, etc.

      This discipline ranks in the forefront among   domestic similar disciplines in terms of the academic level, the scientific   research achievements and the talent cultivation. In 2016 National   First-class Discipline Evaluation of Instrument Science and   Technology, this discipline was selected as A- discipline   and tied for fourth in China.

  

2. Objectives

      Students will grasp the fundamental principles   of Marxism, stick to the Four Cardinal Principles, have the   sense of patriotic duty, abide by the laws and regulations, and behave   upright. Meanwhile, the students   will develop their spirit of serving the people and   devoting to the construction of socialism.

     Students will acquire solid and broad   theoretical principles as well as systematical and in-depth expertise in the   field of Measurement and Control, Information and Computer, Mechatronics,   Intelligent Perception and Processing, Internet of Things, etc. Students will have the   capability of doing scientific research independently and solving relevant   technical problems. They will be competent for careers related to   Instrumentation, Measurement and Detection, Automation and Robotics, Advanced   Navigation, Electronic Information, Computer Application, Intelligent City,   Intelligent Medical Treatment, Intelligent Transportation, etc.

       Students will acquire proficiency in at least   one language other than Chinese.

4 years usually, and no more   than 6 years.

  

5. Credit Requirements and Curricula

Thesis Proposal

in accordance with Principles and Requirements of   Southeast University on Topic Selection and Topic Report of Graduate Thesis.

  

Interim Assessment

in accordance with Measures of Southeast University   on Medium-term Assessment and Screening for Doctoral Graduates.

  

Doctoral Dissertation

including requirements on literature reading, thesis   writing, publication, etc. 

  

Literature Reading (for reference only)

Students are required to read at least 100   literatures (including 50 literatures written in foreign languages and more   than 50% of the literatures are published in the last 5 years) related to   their dissertation and research direction, and write a review.

  

Dissertation Writing (for reference only)

In addition to compliance with the provisions of   University, doctoral dissertation must be written in a systematic   and complete manner, presenting clear concepts, correct arguments,   realistic description, concise writing structure, smooth and concise writing   style, correct calculation, reliable data, and clear figures & tables.

  

Dissertation Evaluation (for reference only)

Doctoral dissertation should   be written with a certain depth, breadth and distinctive creativeness. Some   part of the research should reach the advanced world levels. The findings and   conceptions presented in the dissertation should be new and have positive   impact on academic development of this discipline. Students are required to   conduct at least two years research related to the dissertation. Before being   eligible for applying for a Doctor's Degree, at least one of the following   requirements should be met: 1. The applicants for Doctor's Degree must   publish two SCIE/SSCI source journal papers, including at least one journal   paper published in Q1 or Q2 journals in JCR Quartile of the discipline; 2.   The applicants for Doctor's Degree must publish three SCIE/SSCI/EI source   journal papers (the EI source journal papers should be included in EI),   including at least two SCIE/SSCI academic papers; 3. The applicants for   Doctor's Degree must publish two SCIE/SSCI academic papers in the source   journal of SCIE/SSCI, and one authorized invention patent or win one   scientific research award of second or above class in the ministerial or   provincial level (the applicants for Doctor's Degree should be the principal completer and have a personal award   certificate).
